Depth of Field

Low depth of field #1- Buttons

Low depth of field #2- Ornament

high depth of field #1- Dog

high depth of field #2- Sink

                                                                   Artist reflection

The best shot in this is the ornament because you can clearly see the depth of field in it and the colors of everything make the picture pop. The weakest shot in this is the sink because its not really bright and it looks dirty. the weakest shot can be improved by using a better lighting and angle. i used photoshop. i used the levels and black and white edit. i was able to meet the goals of this assignment by adjusting the shutter to help focus on the object i wanted to take a picture of. what was easy about this assignment was focusing the camera and taking the pictures because i made it seem harder than it was. what was hard about this assignment was telling the two dop apart because i kept switching them up. if i could do this project again, i would turn it in on time instead of late. on a scale from 1-10, id give myself a 5 because i didnt really try at first, but then i did.

Back Light

Back Light

Photo 1:

Photo 2:

Artist reflection:

I think the second picture was the best shot of the assignment because it catches more of the light. The first picture is weaker because it doesn't capture the light. The first photo can be improved if i got more of the back lighting into the picture. I used the photoshop app. I messed around with brightness, levels, contrast, ect. I met my goals for this assignment by using the set up in the classroom. What was easy about this assignment was that the set was already made for me. What was hard about this assignment was trying to get the light and the objects in the picture together. I think i would fix the lighting on the first picture if i could redo this project. i'd give myself a 9 out of 10 because i did a good amount of work and got some good shots out of this project.

Texture

This is my texture project. Below are 3 pictures that show the texture and lighting of an object, meaning that you can almost feel the object itself though the picture.

1. The evergreen trees. This picture you can clearly see the prickly leaves of the trees, almost to the point of being able to feel them.

2. The tree. This pictures texture stands out. You can see the bumps and almost feel them on the tree.

3. The ribbon. This picture shows how soft the ribbon is and you can almost feel it.

                                                                Artist Reflection
I think my best picture was of the tree because it really shows the most texture and it looks as if your feeling it.  My evergreen tree picture was my weakest shot because even though it showed texture, the lighting of the picture was not that great. My weakest shot can be improved by taking it at a better time during the day when there is more light. I used the app Snapseed to edit these pictures. I messed around with the lighting, exposure, curves, and tuning. I was able to meet the objectives by finding everyday objects and getting good angles of them that show the texture of the objects. What was easy about this assignment was that I didn't have to search for something everywhere just to get a picture. I was able to take picture of things we see everyday. What was difficult about this assignment was finding perfect lighting that would help the texture come out. If i could do anything differently i would probably find better lighting angles. i give myself an 8 out of 10 in effort because i did try hard on this project.

ANSEL ADAMS

Ansel Adams masters in landscape pictures. I think he gets his texture from the kind of camera he uses and the lighting he takes. I like the way you can really tell what hes taking a picture of and how you can see all the details of his pictures. His pictures are well taken. i feel this way because they're well taken pictures with plenty of detail that will keep you wanting to look at the picture.

composition

simplicity: This picture fills in the whole frame and doesn't have any distraction

Brightness and Sharpness: This picture focuses on the brightness and sharpness of

Avoid Bulls eye: This picture keeps away from the middle of the camera

Rule of thirds: This Picture stays away from the middle, but stays within the 4 dots around the middle

Emphasizes foreground: this picture is taken on the upper half of the frame

Lading lines

multiple subjects: this picture displays many different objects within it

                                                                           REFLECTION

I believe that the Picture of the ticket machine is my strongest shot because it captures more than one subject, which is exactly what was asked, and it also has bold color and its just a nice picture. My weakest shot would probably be my 'Rule of Thirds' pencil shot because it was rushed and it doesn't follow through with the task. i didn't understand the difference between rule of thirds and avoiding bulls eyes, so this picture was generally not good. my weakest shot can be improved by not being as rushed and taking more time to understand what i'm taking a picture of. I used the app Snap Seed on my phone. I took pictures of my surroundings at school, the park, and i even went an arcade and just took pictures of what i felt like could go into my 'composition' project. i took my pictures and found the ones that looked the best and edited them before posting them on my blog for class. Finding items to take pictures of was probably the easiest part of the project as well as editing it, but the most difficult was figuring out how to place them in the right categories of the project. If i could redo the project over again, id probably just pay close attention to the differences of each category and put some focus on the difference between rule of thirds and avoid bulls eye. On a scale of 1-10, id give myself a 7 because i could've done better but i did do a lot of work for this project, but towards the end i did give up.

The difference between a snap shot and artistic photography is a snap shot a quick and easy picture, whereas artistic photography is well edited and well done pictures that are very detailed and beautiful.
What do you think makes this photo part of Time Magazine's 100 Best Collection?

What i think makes this photo part of Time Magazine's 100 Best Collection is the reality of it all. that photo is a prime example of what really happened on 9/11 and what the results of the tragedy really were. That photo showed the horror of what actually happened that day and what people were forced to do for even the slightest chance of survival. Most of the pictures shown from that day are of the burning building, but nobody really shows a picture like 'The Falling Man' because it shows the reality of the challenges people faced that day. Thousands of people looked death in the face on September 11th, 2001, and this picture is an example of what that extreme death looked like, which is what made it part of Time Magazine's 100 Best Collection.
